Having The Spirit Of Encouragement

Isaiah 55:11 says “It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it”. We all believe this verse is true and when we read that he will never leave us nor forsake us, why does God seem far away at times and why are there are moments when we don’t feel his presence at all? I believe we all have been in that place at some point in time. We all have dry seasons and wet seasons. The smallest things can discourage us, discouragement never comes from the Almighty. He is the one we need to go to when we feel down because only in him do we find refuge. The world says to drown your sorrows with a bottle of liquor, I cannot possibly imagine how much worse off that will make you. Even as people who belong to Christ we are human beings that can be discouraged. I believe the best possible thing to do is acknowledge it and seek out God on the spot, read His word, and stop listening to the Enemy, seek out advice from fellow Christians. Hebrews 10:25 “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially, now that the day of his return is drawing near.” It does feel discouraging when we receive news that we don’t want to hear, financial issues come up, issues with work and/or family. We need to turn to God. He won’t let you down; He won’t give up on you. Let’s also remember the spirit of discouragement does not come from Him.

Prayer:
My Lord Jesus, please help me at times when I feel down. I know you are always there for me but I do get discouraged. Help me to surround myself with you, your word and my fellow Christians. In His Name, Amen
